While it rains, I think I’ll throw a mention for Kayo Dot and their new album “Coyote” (a streamed test pressing on the link) . I was very impressed/intrigued with the “Blue Lambency Downward” record and had the chance to catch the group here in Toronto at the Wrongbar last year. Thin crowd, thick walls of music; incredible guitar tone and some very impressionistic drumming helped them careen through politer sea-like passages and dark complex brooding sheets of intense sound, straddling the light/dark parallel with expert ease. The fragile and misshaped guitar lines are a pretty revelation for the beautiful haunted house sect.
